Emhain Macha Dark Rain

Emhain Macha Dark Rain, a new book of poetry by Skadi meic Beorh, will be published by Rebel Satori Press in 2009.

This collection was begun in the Autumn of 1992, but did not become full fledged until the poet spent a year in Ireland during the late 1990s.

Emhain Macha is a sacred site a few miles from Armagh in N. Ireland. There lie two earthworks in the shape of hills–one much higher than the other and (once) completely surrounded by ash trees, and so more often visited.

Many of the poems in this book reference Emhain Macha, but others speak of different parts of Ireland where the author traveled and lived.

Emhain Macha Dark Rain. A sometimes comedic, sometimes heartwarming, sometimes satirical and sometimes horrifying mythical journey into the very heart of Ireland. The reader will hear echoes of William Butler Yeats, and Michael Longley, and James Joyce, and William Blake. The Green Knight is here, as well as the fierce warrior CuCullain, sweet and gentle Deirdre, and the mad trickster Bricriu Nemhthenga. This collection of poetry, much of it written in Ireland, is an answer to those longing for more of the Hibernian vision.
